Thomas Geiger (born in 1969) works at Empa, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, Dübendorf, Switzerland in the section Applied Wood Materials. He received his diploma degree in 1995 and completed his PhD study in 1998 at department of Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Geosciences at Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz, Germany. From 1998, He worked in the Laboratory of Corrosion and Surface Protection at Empa. From 2003-2015, he as headed a group as research scientist at the Laboratory of Functional Polymers, Empa. His research interests lie in the development, syntheses and characterization of functional cellulose materials based on microfibrillated cellulose and nano-cellulose. He was involved in the development, syntheses and characterization of multifunctional polymers and coatings for manifold applications (polymer nanocomposites, adhesives, functionalized natural polymers, JunFunori).
