Conserving Central Park’s Monuments in the 21st C. Walking Tour
Join Matt Reiley, Associate Director of Conservation and Lead Conservator for the Central Park Conservancy (CPC), on a walk through one of the world’s most beloved urban green spaces. Founded nearly four decades ago, the CPC has largely restored the Park, and now is embarking on a new era to define and promote a sustainable model of park management and operations.
The Park is also home to an important and diverse collection of historic monuments, features and architecture. Learn about the Conservancy’s program of cyclical preservation maintenance of its cultural resources and visit recently completed conservation projects that showcase a blend of traditional technique and new innovations in technology. Join the perambulatory discussion about the opportunities and challenges posed by outdoor sculpture collections care and plans for future conservation work.
